Winter pressures, UK wide service and new job opportunities

With winter fast approaching we are beginning to see the first news reports of predicted winter pressures that are likely to impact on many healthcare providers in the coming months.

Previously published data from January 2017 showed that the number of general and acute escalation beds (i.e. the additional beds opening temporarily to cope with increased demand) effectively doubled within a week to over 31,000. This was equivalent to opening 8 new hospitals to cope with the winter pressures demand placed on the NHS and indicates just how quickly things can change during the winter months!

With such rapid and sizeable increases in demand, and the fluctuating nature of winter pressures we recognise that you may need to open a ward at short notice in order to increase capacity.
